Manual Installation

If you already have a copy of the theme you are installing, you have to install it manually. To do so, complete the steps in one of the following 2 methods…

Method 1 (Upload In Website Admin)

  1. Login into your WordPress website with an admin account.
  2. Go to Dashboard => Appearance => Themes.
  3. On the ‘Themes’ page, click ‘Add New’ at the top of the page.
  4. On the ‘Add Themes’ page, click ‘Upload Theme’ at the top of the page.
  5. Browse to select the theme on your computer. Remember to complete the ‘Steps to do Before Installation‘ first.
  6. Then, click ‘Activate’ to apply the theme to your site.

Method 2 (Upload Using FTP)

FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. It is a process that can be used to transfer files between your computer and a remote server. If you are not familiar with FTP, please use method 1 above.

  1. Connect to your WordPress website root folder.
  2. Then browse to wp-content => themes
  3. Transfer the zipped file of your new theme into the remote ‘themes’ folder.
  4. Uncompress the new theme into the remote ‘themes’ folder.
  5. Return to your WordPress website with an admin account.
  6. Go to Dashboard => Appearance => Themes.
  7. You will find your new theme thumbnail. Remember to complete the ‘Steps to do Before Installation‘ first.
  8. Then, click ‘Activate’ to apply the theme to your site.

Proceed to the ‘Steps to do After Activation’ to complete your theme activation.
